Friday 6.30pm with Daniella Olea and Kate Kaleb
Contemporary Dance is an expressive style that uses dance movements to convey emotions and ideas. Students are encouraged to adapt and develop learned movements and sequences, and to improvise using different sources for ideas. Learned movements and sequences use contrasts in force and flow, fall and recovery, fluidity in the spine, and abstracted gestures integrating the torso, arms and head. Students develop strength, fluidity and dance technique under the guidance of the teacher.
Students aged 8 years and older can enrol in Contemporary Dance. Previous dance, gymnastics, circus or yoga experience is an advantage, but not a requirement. Contemporary is a wonderful dance style for creative dancers who also want to develop technique and choreography skills.
